Responsible Gambling in Malaysia — Tools, Warning Signs and Help
Gambling should be entertainment you can afford, never a way to make money. Here is how to stay in control, what to watch for and where to get help, for yourself or for someone close to you.
Know the deal before you play

Every bet can lose. Slots, live tables, sports bets and 4D are games of chance, and every one of them has a built-in edge for the house or the bookmaker, so over time players as a group lose more than they win. Treat the money you gamble as the price of an evening's entertainment: once it is spent, it is spent. TPOWER is for adults aged 18 and over.
Tools you can use on TPOWER
Contact live support to set up any of these on your account. Tell the team what you want, and they will confirm when it is in place.
- Deposit limit. Cap how much you can deposit over a period you choose, so a bad night cannot turn into a bad month.
- Session limit. Set how long you want to play in one sitting, so a quick session does not take over your evening.
- Take a break. Pause your account for a short time when you want some distance.
- Self-exclusion. Close off access to your account for a longer period if gambling is causing you harm.
The best time to set a limit is before you start playing, while you are thinking clearly. Asking for a lower limit or a break is a sensible step, not an admission of anything.
Warning signs to take seriously
- You spend more money or time than you planned, again and again.
- You chase losses, betting more to win back what you have lost.
- You borrow money, use savings or bill money, or sell things to keep gambling.
- You hide your gambling or are not honest about it with family or friends.
- You feel restless, irritable or low when you try to cut down.
- Gambling is affecting your sleep, work, studies or relationships.
If any of these sounds familiar, now is a good time to set a limit, take a break or talk to someone.
Habits that keep play fun
- Decide your budget before you log in, and stop when it is gone.
- Set a time limit and a reminder on your phone.
- Never gamble with borrowed money or money meant for rent, bills or food.
- Do not play when you are upset, stressed, tired or have been drinking.
- Take regular breaks, and keep other hobbies and people in your week.
- Treat a win as a bonus rather than a reason to keep going, and never chase a loss.
- Keep a simple record of what you deposit and withdraw, so you can see the real picture.
Protecting under-18s
Gambling is for adults only. If children or teenagers use your phone, tablet or computer:
- Keep your login details private and log out after you play.
- Never let anyone under 18 use your account or play on your behalf.
- Use the parental controls built into your device and app store to restrict apps, purchases and content, and lock app installs behind a PIN or password.
- Talk to the young people in your family about how gambling works and why the odds are set against the player.
If you know someone under 18 is using a TPOWER account, tell live support.
Where to get help
You do not have to deal with it alone. Talking to someone you trust, such as a family member, a friend or your doctor, is a strong first step.
- [Befrienders Kuala Lumpur](https://www.befrienders.org.my/) offers confidential emotional support to anyone who is feeling distressed or overwhelmed, whatever the cause.
- [Gamblers Anonymous](https://www.gamblersanonymous.org/) is a fellowship of people who help one another stop gambling. Its website explains how the programme works and how to find a meeting.
