What is Playtech?

Playtech is a long-established games studio with a large catalogue of slots. Its games range from straightforward five-reel line slots to whole series that share a progressive jackpot. On TPOWER, Playtech opens from the slots section of your account, on the website or in the app, alongside the other providers.

Playtech's style is broadly classic: clear paylines, familiar features and, in some series, a jackpot that grows until someone wins it. If you prefer big grids, tumbling reels and multiplier symbols, Pragmatic Play is closer to that style.

Playtech titles and series you may meet

Playtech keeps adding games and any lobby's line-up changes over time, so read the names below as examples, not a fixed list. The Playtech section of the TPOWER lobby shows what is available today, and each game's info screen has its exact rules.

Age of the Gods

A series of slots drawn from Greek myth. Each game has its own reels, symbols and free games, but the series shares a jackpot with four tiers, ranked from Power through Extra Power and Super Power up to Ultimate Power. The jackpot is pooled across the series, so play on any linked game helps it grow.

Buffalo Blitz

Six reels and 4,096 ways to win, with the buffalo, the top symbol, able to land stacked on every reel. A ways game with a traditional look: matching symbols pay on neighbouring reels from the left, wherever they sit.

Great Blue

An undersea game with 25 paylines. The orca wild stands in for other symbols and doubles the wins it completes, and the shell scatters lead to free games in which you pick shells that add free games and multipliers.

A familiar name can appear in more than one lobby: our 918KISS page mentions a Great Blue too. Treat each version on its own terms and read the info screen where you open it.

Progressive jackpots, explained

A progressive jackpot is a prize that grows as people play. Here is how it works.

How a pooled jackpot grows

A small slice of every qualifying stake goes into the jackpot instead of the regular game. When several games are linked, or one jackpot is shared across many sites, all of that play feeds a single pot, which is why the figure can climb quickly. When someone wins it, the jackpot drops back to a starting amount and begins to grow again. The number on screen is live: it shows the pot now, not what the next winner will receive.

Jackpot tiers

Many jackpot games pay several jackpots of different sizes. The lower tiers are smaller, won more often and reset quickly; the top tier builds for much longer and is won far more rarely.

Why the jackpot game starts at random

In many jackpot slots, including the Age of the Gods series, the jackpot is not won by lining up symbols. Instead, a separate jackpot game can start on any spin, whatever the reels show, and its own rules set how a tier is won. Because the trigger is random, no pattern, time of day or run of losses brings it closer.

Does your stake matter?

Whether your stake changes your chance of reaching the jackpot game, or which tiers you can win, is set by each title, so check the title's rules. Never raise your stake beyond your budget for the jackpot's sake.

The jackpot and the return

The jackpot is paid for out of the stakes, so part of the game's return is set aside for a prize very few players will win. Treat it as a rare extra, not a reason to play longer or bet more.

Classic paylines in Playtech slots

Many Playtech slots, Great Blue among them, pay on lines.

  • Every line is a fixed path. Matching symbols pay when they sit on an active line, starting from the leftmost reel. The info screen shows a map of every line.
  • Your total stake is the line bet times the lines. Where a game lets you choose the number of lines, fewer lines make each spin cheaper but leave fewer places for a win. Where lines are fixed, every line is always active.
  • Wilds and scatters. A wild completes a line by standing in for another symbol; scatters usually pay or start free games wherever they land.

Tips: enjoy the jackpot, budget for the game

Every spin is random, and no tip changes that. These are about understanding what you play and keeping control of what you spend.

  • Budget for the base game. Plan your session as if the jackpot will not come, because for almost every player it will not.
  • Read the rules of each jackpot title. They explain the tiers, how the jackpot game starts and what your stake means for it.
  • Set limits before you start. Deposit and session limits, breaks and self-exclusion are explained on our responsible gaming page. Stop when you reach your limit, and never chase losses.

Playtech slot questions

Which Playtech games can I play on TPOWER?

The Playtech section of the TPOWER lobby shows the current line-up. It changes as games are added and retired, so titles such as Buffalo Blitz or the Age of the Gods games may be joined or replaced by others over time.

How does a progressive jackpot grow?

A small share of each qualifying stake goes into the jackpot. When games are linked, all of them feed the same pot. After a win, the jackpot resets to a starting amount and grows again.

Does a bigger stake help me win the jackpot?

That is set by each title, so check the game’s jackpot rules. On an ordinary spin, your stake changes how much a win pays, not how often wins land. Never raise your stake beyond your budget to chase a jackpot.

Why did the jackpot game start when the reels showed no win?

In many jackpot slots the jackpot game is triggered at random, separately from the symbols on the reels. It can start on any spin, and a long losing run does not make it more likely.

Can I play Playtech on my phone?

Yes. Log in to TPOWER in your mobile browser, or install the TPOWER app for Android or iPhone from the download page, then open Playtech from the slots section.
